At 21:00 the ballroom of the Hofburg will fill up because the ball commences with one its highlights: the grand opening - including the beautiful black-and-white performance of the Ball Opening Committee of the Viennese Dance School.
Registration for young ladies and gentlemen
You would like to participate as a debutant at the opening of the 119th ZuckerBäckerball on 16 January 2020 in the Hofburg? The classical opening of the ball with its Viennese waltz can be completed in three steps. First the participants register, then they take part in an audition and then the rehearsals begin.
Since the registration for the opening takes place via a dance school, a visit to one of these schools is mandatory. Young ladies and gentlemen can register directly at the dance school or by e-mail to Mr. Franzen or Mr. Fränzl.
Prerequisite
A prerequisite for the audition is the mastery of the natural turn waltz (Rechtswalzers) with half turns. In addition, we are particularly pleased about reverse turn and Fleckerl pairs. Everything else will be taught to you in the rehearsals. Attendance at the auditions and all four rehearsals is, of course, mandatory.
Auditions
After registration, Mr. Franzen and Mr. Fränzl will coordinate your personal appointment for the audition, which will take place on Saturday, December 14, 2019 between 10:00 and 12:00 directly at the beim Verein Förderung des Lebensmittelgewerbes, Florianigasse 13, 1080 Vienna.
The dress code when auditioning is as follows: We request that the ladies wear a black skirt and white blouse and dance shoes with stiletto heels, and the gentlemen should wear a pair of black suit trousers, a white shirt and dance shoes.
Rehearsals
Several rehearsals will take place for the opening of the 119th ZuckerBäckerball, all of which are mandatory. The pairs will be divided during the auditions for the respective rehearsals (1st or 2nd group). The dress code for all rehearsals is the same as that of the auditions.
1st rehearsal: Monday, January 6, 2020 at the beim Verein Förderung des Lebensmittelgewerbes, Florianigasse 13, 1080 Vienna. The first group rehearses from 10:00 to 11:45, the second group from 12:00 to 13:45.
2nd rehearsal: Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the beim Verein Förderung des Lebensmittelgewerbes, Florianigasse 13, 1080 Vienna. The first group rehearses from 10:00 to 11:45, the second group from 12:00 to 13:45.
Blocking rehearsal: Tuesday, January 14, 2020 in the Hofburg Vienna, Heldenplatz, 1010 Vienna. Admission to the Hofburg starts at 18:00, the rehearsal begins on time at 19:00 and ends at 21:00 at the latest.
Dress rehearsal
On the evening of the ball on Thursday, 16 January 2020, the dress rehearsal will take place at the Hofburg Vienna, Heldenplatz, 1010 Vienna. The entrance to the Hofburg starts at 17:00, and the rehearsal starts at 18:00.
The opening pairs are asked to appear in ball attire. This means for the ladies a white, floor-length evening dress, white gloves and white / silver shoes with stiletto heel. The gentlemen are to arrive in black tuxedo or suit, white shirt with black bow tie, white gloves and black shoes.
The grand opening will begin at 21:00. After the opening, the female debutantes are welcome to switch to an optional floor-length evening dress (no cocktail dresses).
