The ZuckerBäckerball is not only a celebration for the senses, filled with music, dance, and exquisite delights, but also a place brimming with exciting competitions! One of the most beloved features of the evening are the three spectacular Balloon Showers, which regularly draw large crowds of guests to the dance floor.
In the grand hall of the ZuckerBäckerball, guests are treated to an exhilarating game: A net, bulging with colourful balloons, hangs from the ceiling. When the music pauses, the dance floor transforms into a stage for this thrilling event. The players gather beneath the balloons, eagerly awaiting the moment when the net opens and the balloons gently float to the ground – each balloon containing a valuable prize. Every single balloon holds a special voucher.
At times, the game becomes even a bit acrobatic, as strong men are often seen lifting their partners onto their shoulders, allowing them better access to the flying lucky balloons…
"Ball-Mutti" Hon.-Vk. Birgit Sarata shares her enthusiasm: "It’s such great fun when the balloons rain down three times. The dance floor is then packed, everyone jumps and bounces around madly, eager to catch one of the balloons – after all, there’s a prize to win! It’s such a hilarious sight to see everyone hopping about – simply wonderful!"
The Balloon Showers take place three times in the grand hall “Festsaal”:
At 11:15 PM, you can win Heindl vouchers at “HEINDL Pralinen-Regen der Genüsse”. Heindl, a family-owned Austrian confectionery since 1953, creates fine pralines and chocolates made from Fairtrade cocoa beans.
At 1:30 AM, take part in the “Glücksballone AUER x GLÜCK unzertrennlich” for a chance to win vouchers from Auer, an Austrian company that produces crispy gourmet wafers with delicate creams, including the famous Tortenecken with hazelnut cream and Baumstämme, so called tree logs.
At 2:30 AM, the “Schlumberger – Glücksballonregen” will offer you the opportunity to win bubbly vouchers from Schlumberger. Schlumberger, an Austrian company since 1842, produces high-quality sparkling wines made from 100% Austrian grapes using the traditional Champagne method.
Due to the usual large crowd during the first Balloon Shower in Festsaal, we also offer a thrilling alternative experience at 11:15 PM in Zeremoniensaal, the Ceremonial Hall: the “Süßer Niemetz Zuckerlhimmel”. Here, a variety of sweet prizes will be lowered from the ceiling of the hall. Niemetz, an Austrian traditional company since 1890, creates sweets of the highest confectionery quality, including the famous Schwedenbomben, Manja, and Swedy bars. A Schwedenbombe (Swedish Bomb) is a beloved Austrian sweet treat, typically consisting of a light, fluffy marshmallow core coated in a layer of rich, smooth chocolate. The marshmallow is often placed on a small biscuit base, adding a crunchy texture that contrasts beautifully with the soft, creamy interior.
The vouchers for these sweet delights can be redeemed in Seitenhalle.
